About Emma:
Emma Gale is a contemporary textile artist based in Brighton who creates original fabric pieces that combine screen printed textures, abstract shapes and carefully constructed geometric pattern. Her work is rooted in close observation of her surroundings and is influenced by the unexpected forms and surfaces found in both urban and natural environments. Colour plays a central role in her practice, and the tactile quality of her work often recalls the depth and structure of woven textiles.
A graduate of Middlesex University, Gale worked for many years as a designer for the interior textiles market, selling fabric designs to clients in America, Europe and Australia. Alongside her commercial work she has worked as an educator, sharing her interest in material exploration and colour through studio teaching and a series of experimental textile workshops.
Emma Gale has exhibited locally as part of Artist Open Houses and her work is held in several private collections. Her practice appeals to collectors who appreciate thoughtful textile artistry, distinctive pattern work and an inventive approach to colour and surface.
