About Sam:

Sam Flylightly is a Brighton based artist working from Studio 106 in Hove. Her practice is shaped by a lifelong connection to the ocean, informed by time spent between Sussex and the Florida Keys. This experience nurtured a deep respect for water and its shifting emotional qualities, which continues to influence both the themes and atmosphere of her work.

Her style has evolved from illustrative watercolours to larger scale paintings on canvas. Water and memory sit at the heart of her practice, alongside storytelling and the female experience. Flylightly often allows compositions to develop organically, responding to the unpredictable nature of her materials. Figures emerge gradually within the paint and are further explored through delicate, meditative line work. Her recent series, The Divine Stages of Creation, reflects on the cycles of thought and emotion that shape the creative process, and two works from this body of work are included in the exhibition.

Sam Flylightly has developed a steadily growing following for her distinctive approach to painting, and her work resonates with collectors who appreciate sensitivity, atmosphere and a poetic connection to place and memory.
